Why I still shoot half of every wedding on film

People assume it is nostalgia, or the grain, or some claim about dynamic range. It is none of those. I shoot film because thirty-six frames per roll changes what I do with my hands.

The economy of a finite roll

With a digital body I can shoot a moment eleven times and choose later. That sounds like an advantage and mostly it is. But it also means I can stop deciding. A roll with nine frames left makes me wait for the actual moment instead of covering the approach to it.

What this means for you

Practically, nothing. You get a single gallery, and you will not be able to reliably tell which frames came from which camera.
